Today is yet another milestone for NTIS as we witnessed the first urban drone delivery at our third sandbox . This is a strategic partnership with airasia's logistics venture, Teleport.
The first phase in Cyberjaya seeks to assess the capability, experience, approval process, deployment readiness and service expansion of the drone operators. Upon a successful trial phase, this service might be expanded beyond the sandbox environment.
As we fine-tune the technology, we could leverage the expertise and experience gained during this pilot stage for delivery of essential or medical supplies to areas that are rural, remote, or affected by natural disasters.
In realising this project, we have been working closely with CAAM to ensure the safety and security of Unmanned Air Services in urban settings meets the requirements and regulations as set by CAAM especially with the new Civil Aviation Directive in Regulating Unmanned Aircraft System operations effective 1 March 2021.
